Meet Amanda

about-header

As a lifestyle designer, Amanda works with women to change the way they lose weight and reveal their sexy. She is the author of Devilish Detox and continues to develop programs for women both virtually and locally in Roanoke, Virginia.

Amanda’s diverse experience and knowledge enable her to successfully coach women of varying backgrounds and demographics. As a child, while her friends were at the playground after school, Amanda could be found in her father’s business or in the dance studio learning to communicate with her body. As a young adult, and without a college degree, she rose to become one of the youngest Vice President at a major bank.

After 7 years in banking she left to study women’s culture, art history, and interior design at George Washington University. After graduating, and with a few years of commercial interior design behind her, Amanda and her husband moved to El Salvador to adopt a child. There she spent her days engaged in the fitness, dance, and food of Latin culture. In awe of the extreme physical beauty and fitness exhibited by the local women of all ages, Amanda was inspired to begin work on a unique lifestyle program for American women. Through her practices she gained more energy, a better body image, striking muscle tone and a sassy confidence.  After 3 years in El Salvador she returned to the United States with a 3 year old son and a message to spread.

Since then she has worked in many facets of the health & fitness industry – as a fitness instructor, dance instructor, educator, director for health clubs, personal trainer and nutrition coach. But her passion still lies in teaching women to operate from a new level of understanding about their body and mind.

Today, Amanda resides in Roanoke, Virginia where she teaches and speaks about fitness, nutrition, disease prevention, and women’s issues. She most recently opened Brickhouse, a pioneering effort in the fitness scene, where she fuses athletic movements of Crossfit with Eastern traditions. To further her work with women she also teaches a unique program for women to celebrate sensual movement. Strip tease and pole dancing are just a few of the classes that bring out the athletic, circular, and beautiful movement of a woman. Her passion for fighting Alzheimer’s disease; one that has stricken her family, has led her to begin work on a foundation to raise awareness to generation X and Y on the lifestyle changes that can be made to prevent disease.

In 2001 Amanda obtained certification as a Group Instructor and Personal Trainer. She graduated magna cum laude from The George Washington University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture, and since then, has worked in the fields of architecture, non-profit development, and fitness. In 2007 she obtained her Life Coach certification through Spencer Institute and continues her studies of women, and both eastern and western wellness philosophies. In January 2010 she became Crossfit Level 1 Certified.
